Hang Lung Properties and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Department of Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong are the co-organizers the Hang Lung Mathematics Awards. Hang Lung Properties sponsors and funds the Awards by donating HK$2 million towards each competition, of which HK$1 million is designated as monetary prizes and HK$1 million is used for the administration, assessment process, guidance and mentoring, and provision of educational resources for the mathematics research competition and awards. Hang Lung Properties is also responsible for presenting the crystal trophies and certificates as well as the disbursement of monetary prizes. The Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong contribute mostly in the academic and educational aspects of the Awards. They also handle the administrations and operations related to the mathematics research competition. In 2004, Hong Kong Education City was a key partner in the inaugural competition, particularly in overseeing the registration process, outreach to secondary schools, as well as website and multimedia management.

The Scientific Committee and the Steering Committee are the two principal committees of the Hang Lung Mathematics Awards. The Scientific Committee, comprising world-renowned mathematicians, is the academic and adjudicating body of the Awards. The Steering Committee, comprising mathematicians and representatives from different sectors of society, serves as the advisory body.

Scientific Committee 2008

The Scientific Committee upholds the academic standard and integrity of the mathematics research competition through it active participation in evaluating the project reports, and adjudicating in the oral defense. The Screening Panel under the Scientific Committee handles the initial review of each report, supervises the second and final round of the review process, and liaises with all referees and members of Scientific Committee regarding the project reports.

Steering Committee 2008

The Steering Committee formed by renowned persons from the society includes people experienced in education and the heads of mathematics departments in major Hong Kong universities. It also enlists some members from other committees in order to have an overall oversight. The Executive Committee, which reports to the Steering Committee, is responsible for operating and administering the mathematics research competition as well as managing the Resource Center and the Secretariat.
