School Development Award
Each winning school will receive a crystal trophy and a School Development Award. The School Development Award shall be applied towards the development of mathematics education at the winning school. A report outlining how the award is used should be submitted to the Secretariat of Hang Lung Mathematics Awards within a year after the awards announcement.
Tuition Scholarship
Each winning school may also nominate a teacher to receive a Tuition Scholarship for a Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Mathematics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong within three academic years after the awards announcement. The supervising teacher of the winning team should have the priority to be nominated. The tuition fees for the Programme will be reimbursed to the teacher upon successful enrollment of the programme, and achievement of a satisfactory academic performance.

The Hang Lung Mathematics Awards is held biennially. At each competition, up to eight awards will be presented to recognize those mathematics research projects that meet the highest academic standards in terms of methodology, research, and scholarship. The eight awards are: a Gold Award, a Silver Award, a Bronze Award, and up to five Honorable Mentions.

Each award has four components: a Student Education Award, a Teacher Leadership Award, a School Development Award, and a Tuition Scholarship to a teacher nominated by each winning school to enroll in a Master of Science (MSc) Programme in Mathematics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In addition to the monetary prizes above, each winning student, teacher, and school will receive a crystal trophy and an award certificate. Etched in the crystal trophy is a representation of a Calabi-Yau manifold. Named after mathematicians Eugenio Calabi and Shing Tung Yau, Calabi-Yau manifolds form a special class of surfaces used in algebraic geometry and theoretical physics. These are spaces with multiple super symmetries. In modern theory, the universe is a ten-dimensional space consisting of a four-dimensional space-time, together with a six-dimensional Calabi-Yau manifold curled up everywhere every moment.

All students who have participated in the mathematics research competition, and have achieved a reasonable academic standard in their submitted research reports, will receive a certificate of participation.
